Meydenbauer Bay Park

Meydenbauer Bay Park

If you’re looking for a summertime spot to enjoy, Meydenbauer Bay Park is the place for you! The park underwent a major expansion in early 2020, expanding its original 2.5 acres along Lake Washington’s waterfront to 10 acres. Planning for the park began back in 2007, but it wasn’t until 2017 that construction finally got underway. The terraced layout of the site – with distinct levels featuring a beach area, playground, and lookout points overlooking the lake – makes full use of its 70-foot elevation above water level.

The Westin Peiser Pier is a long, curved pier made for pedestrians that 400-foot and extends into Meydenbauer Bay. You might feel as if you’re on the water without actually getting wet because there’s a boat launch nearby for canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. A sundial sits near the end of the pier which is accurate, as well as ample seats where you could sit down and relax.

The swimming area is encircled by a wooden pier with ropes, a swimming platform, and a sandy beach. Lifeguards will be on duty from late June through early September. The brand-new playground, which is located above the beach, will be utilized by youngsters. In order to pay tribute to the stunning environment, the climber structures mimic natural elements such as boulders and logs.

From the playground, several wide, paved pathways lead to one of the parking lots. If you ascend the hill to street level, take a seat on a bench with a view. The Meydenbauer Bay Park is in a nicer part of Bellevue, so the neighborhood is more expensive and has greater facilities. The new beach house is tucked beneath the pier, and these are fantastic restrooms that include two separate family restrooms that are really nice.

You won’t have to worry about packing lunch. The park, which is only a block from a Pagliacci Pizza near the picturesque Main Street shopping area and a stone’s throw from Bellevue Square, is less than a mile away. Whatever you need, it’s here. If the kids want to go somewhere else for another great playground, Downtown Park’s huge Inspiration Playground is just around the corner. There actually is a genuine Clark Kent-style phone booth next to the lower parking lot for kicks. When was the last time you saw one of those?
