Do you want to spend a day at the beach without having to travel too far from Seattle? Make a trip to Lake Sammamish State Park for a beautiful lakefront beach and nature-filled park! This park, conveniently located near the city grid and includes two seashore beaches and wooded paths through deciduous forests and marshes, offers an outdoor family experience. You could even encounter one of the magnificent blue herons or bald eagles that live in the park.
Are you interested in water activities but don’t have a kayak or board? No problem! Rentals are available at Tibbetts Beach. Do you prefer to walk on the ground or ride in the air? Bring bikes, walking poles, binoculars, and bird books, or bring your GPS unit for geocaching to explore the light-dappled paths. Would the children want unstructured time? Allow them to run wild in the brand-new state-of-the-art playground while you relax from a distance.
Lake Sammamish is a popular gathering spot in the Seattle area with free-form play and year-round community activities. Nature walks, birding excursions, dog strolls, conservation efforts, paddling and cycling events, obstacle courses for children, summer concerts, holiday boat parades, and the Parkadilly Fair are just a few of the activities available. Whether you call it home in Oz or simply passing through Lake Sammamish is the ideal spot for picnics, games, and making memories. Lake Sammamish’s largest day-use park has 6,858 feet of lakefront. The region surrounding the lake is an important archaeological site for at least four Native American tribes.
The park’s ponds and banks may be explored, while the marshes provide excellent viewing of migratory ducks and songbirds. A salmon-bearing creek, as well as a great blue heron rookery, attract birds and wildlife photographers. Fishing poles, horseshoes, and volleyball courts provide free time. The park has an automated pay station for visitors to purchase a one-day or annual Discover Pass.
If your dog is on a leash and under physical control at all times, it is permissible to take him/her into state parks along Lake Sammamish. Dogs are not permitted on certain swim beaches for safety reasons. Please clean up after your canine companion to ensure everyone’s safety, comfort, and enjoyment while also protecting wildlife and natural resources!
